Have a Heart Humane Society will consider adoptive families in the Tehachapi and surrounding areas. If you are wanting to adopt a dog and you are coming from out of the area, we can adopt to you as long as you are willing to drive to Tehachapi to pick up the cat. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.
We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application. The application is how we get to know you! Complete answers are appreciated. It is the start of a conversation, and we use your answers to facilitate that conversation. There are no right or wrong answers, and if we need clarification, we will ask questions.
We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.
Once approved to adopt, the search for your animal begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. If you have a particular animals in our care that you are specifically interested in, you can indicate which pets you are interested in on our appllication.
